LELAND WONG, Head Coach
Where were you born?: China, in a place called Hoi Ping where
the favorite past time is volleyball and some of the woman's greatest
volleyball arises from there.
Please highlight your volleyball playing experience, if any: I did not play high school nor college volleyball but I played in men's leagues, co-ed leagues and the USVBA for fifteen years.
Please highlight your volleyball coaching experience: I
coached high school volleyball in Southern California. In San
Francisco, I coached for SF Tremors, and Kalani for ten years. I coached
Bay Area high schools (Leigh, Westmont, James Lick, and Carlmont for
both girls and boys for 10 years.
Please list any award, or championships, you received as either a player or a coach: At
Campbell School District in San Jose, I coached a JV boy's high school
volleyball team and we won 5 out of 6 League Championships in Div 1 and A
League Division.
What is your education background?: I graduated from
Roosevelt High School in East Los Angeles, the toughest neighborhood in
the USA according to 20/20. I graduated from San Francisco State
University in 1974 and continued with graduate studies for two years. I
graduated from Chiropractic School in 1980. I was State appointed QME
from 1984-2007.
Is there any other personal experiences, or training, that you feel makes you a better coach?: I
spent over 30 years as a Chiropractor and 6 years in the Marine Corps.
That helped me understand how the human body works as a whold and how
it interacts with its environment.
What personal philosophy sitcks out the most when it comes to coaching junior club volleyball?: How
well you function in volleyball and outside volleyball is a direct
connection to how well and efficient your mind and body function.
What is your favorite experience with the sport of vollebyall?: My favorite experience in volleyball is to see kids having fun and improve and grow in volleyball and in life.
What are you currently doing if you are not coaching volleyball?: I listen to classical music, exercise at the beach, play cello, golf and play with my grandson, Konrad.

PETER YEE, Assistant Coach
Where were you born?: Detriot, MI
Please highlight your volleyball playing experience, if any: I
started playing in 1990. I had some success playing in Southeast
Michigan and in the Bay Area. I also had a couple of high finishes in
local outdoor tournaments.
Please highlight your volleyball coaching experience: I
started coaching in 1998. I coached club volleyball for 12 years for
the 12's through 18's girls divisions as well as one year for a boys
division. I coached 5 years of men's college club, 1 year of junior
high school, 1 year of JV high school, 2 years of Varsity high school
and several years of coaching adult players.
Please list any award, or championships, you received as either a player or a coach: 2010
Scholastic Fall Championship team, GPA 3.185. During my second year
with University of Michigan Men's Club team, we had the best finish at
Nationals in over a decade. Co-founded the Stanford Men's Club team in
2005 which finished the 2008 season at 19th, nationaly. Proven record
of improving players and teams over the course of every season. A team
composed predominately of my Boys 18s NCVA Power team finished 2nd in
CIF/CCS Finals in May 2006. Several junior player girls that I have
coached have achieved playing success at D1, D2, and D3 colleges.
What is your education background?: I attended Novi High
School. I graduated with a BS dgree in Mechanical Engineering from
University of Michigan. I currently hold my Impact certification Gold
Medal Squared Leve,l 1 PSIA Level 1, AASI Level 1
Is there any other personal experiences, or training, that you feel makes you a better coach?: I am a good problem solver. I feel everyone is unique and each requires a unique approach.
What personal philosophy sitcks out the most when it comes to coaching junior club volleyball?: The
least important thing I teach my players is how to play volleyball.
It's the other lessons that will continue to serve you later in life
that we are teaching: responsibility, tenacity, and overcoming
adversity.
What is your favorite experience with the sport of vollebyall?: Beating
UW Oshkosh (second set went to 36-34). They were the defending
National Champions the previous two years at NIRSA Nationals
What are you currently doing if you are not coaching volleyball?: I teach skiing and snowboarding on the side. I still love to play sand volleyball whenever I can.

2012 NCVA Power League
Practice Schedule: This team will practice on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 7-9 PM from November 17th until December 15th, not on Thanksgiving Day. Beginning in January the practices will move to Mondays, 4-6 PM; and Wednesdays, 4:30-6:30 PM. All practices will be held at the Peninsula Jewish Community Center in Foster City (800 Foster City Blvd). There will be several optional clinics
from November through April hosted by the club that will be available to
members of this team.
