Where were you born?: I was born in Redwood City, Ca
Please highlight your volleyball playing experience, if any: I was exposed to volleyball when I was 10 years old. I started playing
competitive volleyball when I was 12 years old. I was primarily a
setter and an outside hitter. I have also played beach volleyball as a
recreational sport during the summer.
Please highlight your volleyball coaching experience: I first began coaching the sixth grade girls at West Portal Lutheran
School. The team went 13-0 and won the division championships. I
continued the following year with the seventh grade girls volleyball
team and we went 12-2. We brought home another championship for the
school. I coached the final year at West Portal Lutheran in volleyball
and we went for a 12-1 record. We had another successful year and we
went on to win the leagues championship game.
Please list any award, or championships, you received as either a player or a coach: As a volleyball player in middle school I was awarded most valuable
player in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades. I was also appointed team
captain my seventh and eigth grade years. I also was awarded most well
rounded student athlete at West Portal Lutheran School. I played four
years of high school volleyball at Hillsdale High School. I was named
most improved during my sophmore year. I was also named co-captain of
the junior varsity team. I was also awarded most defensive player as a
junior on the varsity team.
I also played basketball in middle school and was awarded most valuable
player during my sixth, seventh, and eigth grades. I was also was named
team captain. I also played for the BCSF YAO league for three years
and was named Most Valuable Player at the Sacramento Rebels Tournament.
I lead the team in assist and steals and was named most defensive
player. I continued basketball all four years at Hillsdale High
School. I was awarded best defensive player as a sophmore, most improved
player as a junior and co team captain as a senior. I was also named
First Team All League my Junior Year and to Second Team All League my
Senior Year.
I also played softball during middle school and was named most valuable
my sixth, seventh, and eigth grades. I continued playing softball at
Hillsdale High School and recived varsity letters three of the four
years I played. I was named most valuable player as a freshman, best
defensive player as a sophmore, and received a golden glove award as a
junior. I was named first team All League during my freshman to senior
year playing softball. I also played on the Blitz traveling softball
team. I was awarded best defensive player on the team. I continued
playing softball at Foothill Community College and was awarded an
outstanding Student Athlete Award both of the two years that I played.
What is your education background?: I graduated from Hillsdale High school as a student athlete during my
four years. I was awarded an outstanding student athlete all four years
in high school. I continued to further my education at Foothill
Community College and I received my A.S. degree in Sports Medicine. I
then transfered to the University of the Pacific and received my B.A.
degree in Sports Sciences with an emphasis in Athletic Training and
Sports Pedagogy.
Is there any other personal experiences, or training, that you feel makes you a better coach?: I feel that with my experience in a variety of sports, it has given me
the benefit from learning new ideas and thougths from others. I have
participated in a variety of Sports Clinics and Positive Coaching
Seminars.
What personal philosophy sitcks out the most when it comes to coaching junior club volleyball?: My personal philosophy is to understand your athletes, their personalities, abilities, goals, and why they are in your sport.
What is your favorite experience with the sport of vollebyall?: My favorite experience with the sport of volleyball is watching the team develope and grow with one another.
What are you currently doing if you are not coaching volleyball?: When I am not coaching, I am spending my time with my boyfriend and two
amazing American Staffordshire dogs Rozy and Sugar. We like to travel,
watch and play a variety of sports, and eat!
